Description
Request
Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) binds to MHC class II molecules and specific Vβ regions of T cell receptors (TCRs), resulting in activation of both monocytes/macrophages and T lymphocytes, which can be used as a superantigen and activator of the immune system. SEB can be used as reference material in the development of SEB detection systems.
Biochemical / Physiological Actions
A superantigen for T lymphocytes. An immune system activator that binds to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigens and CD28.
